Uni-V ("Uni-V," "we," "us," or "our") operates a mobile dating application exclusively for verified students of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte ("UNC Charlotte" or "UNCC"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use Uni-V:

• Account & verification data: your @uncc.edu or @charlotte.edu email address, and a one-time verification code we send to confirm it.
• Profile information: name, major, class year, bio, photos, gender identity, gender preference, interests, relationship intent, and other details you choose to add.
• Activity data: swipes, matches, messages, likes, blocks, and reports.
• Device & usage data: device identifiers, push notification tokens, app interaction events, and diagnostic/analytics events used to keep the app working reliably.
• Subscription data: whether you hold a Uni-V Plus subscription, managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play billing systems. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

2. .edu Verification & Eligibility

Uni-V is restricted to users who are at least 18 years old and who verify a valid, active @uncc.edu or @charlotte.edu email address. We use this verification solely to confirm eligibility for the app; we do not otherwise access your university email account.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account, and confirm your eligibility to use Uni-V.
• To operate core features: showing you profiles, processing swipes and matches, and enabling messaging.
• To send transactional and engagement notifications (e.g. new matches, new messages).
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the app.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Service providers who help us run Uni-V, including our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our email delivery provider (Resend), and our subscription billing provider (RevenueCat) — each bound to only use your data to provide their service to us.
• Other users, limited to the profile information you choose to make visible (photos, bio, and the details you add to your profile). Your university email address is never shown to other users.
• Law enforcement or regulators, only where required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, matches, and messages from active use; some records may be retained briefly where necessary for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including row-level security on our database and encrypted network transport, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and report any suspicious activity to us immediately.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You can review and edit most of your profile information directly in the app. You can block or report other users, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us or using the in-app deletion flow.

8. Children's Privacy

Uni-V is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
